Nooface Site Undergoing Overhaul
posted by Editor on Monday January 10, @07:38PM
All Topics Nooface will be rehosted on a new server later this week. As a result, the site may be unavailable for a few days. In the meanwhile, this article in The Economist sums up the issues with post-PC interfaces very well. It points out that the desktop metaphor that was driven into the mainstream by Apple in 1984 is now collapsing under the weight of data overload. The next wave of interface technology will be driven by innovations that enable users to filter important information and conceal the growing complexity of computer systems and networks. The only way to achieve simplicity is to have products that are explicitly designed to do less, and Google and the Apple iPod provide a glimpse of the kinds of technologies that might change human behaviour.
