SCOPO Compact Wearable Display
posted by Editor on Monday October 18, @06:20PM
Wearable Computer Interfaces Mindflux writes "Mitsubishi has announced the SCOPO head mounted display. The mini display is worn a few inches from the face and appears to the eye to be a 10" display. It is meant to connect to a wide range of devices from computers, cell phones, and PDAs all for $400US. Page includes a link to a marketing video in English." There is more information about the device on gizmo.com.au. According to that article, it will begin shipping in 2005, and will initially target industrial and telecommunications companies, as well as consumers.

It seems to me that what's needed to make items like this useful are surfaces that will receive the signal from the 'headpiece' and permit the user to see it. Multiple users could use the surface to view data without conflict. It'd be like seeing a bunch of people staring at a blank theater screen.
