Semantic Desktop Optimized For P2P, Social Networking, and the Semantic Web
posted by Editor on Monday August 30, @08:34AM
The Evolving Web This paper reveals a vision for the Networked Semantic Desktop, a group collaboration infrastructure optimized for peer-to-peer (P2P) networking, grid computing, online social networking, and the Semantic Web. By projecting the trajectory of current trends, the paper predicts that next-generation Internet applications will be based on collaboration and information exchange, connecting decentralized social networks, enabling shared RDF metadata, and evolution by a consensus process. The paper only presents a theory, but a partial implementation seems to have been done as part of the GnowSis project, described in this thesis report (PDF).
