NeoTrace Visualizes Web Connections
posted by Editor on Tuesday November 13, @01:24PM
Web Sensing McAfee's NeoTrace is a Windows application that combines traceroute, whois, and ping functions into a single tool with a graphical front end. You can trace any computer on the internet simply by entering an email, IP address or URL. The display shows you the route between you and the remote site, including all intermediate nodes and their registrant information. When you drag a link from your browser and drop it on NeoTrace, all the nodes between your computer and the destination site are displayed graphically, positioned either by network topology or geographic location. If you then place your cursor over any node icon, the IP address and round-trip data appear, along with the name and address of the domain's owner. The trial version can be downloaded free, and a licensed version costs $29.95. Here are some screenshots: the geographic view, and the network view.
