Netomat is a "meta browser" that retrieves information from the web and presents it unmediated and independent in form. Netomat pays no attention to how sites were laid out by their designers. Instead of pointing and clicking, users navigate by typing freeform queries and keywords into the browser window, which Netomat uses to assemble seemingly random visuals and snippets of sentences mined from the web (it can read RealAudio, JPG, GIF, AIFF, WAV, HTML, XML, and plain text). The results float endlessly across a black backdrop, accompanied by clips of sound. Maciej Wisniewski, it's developer, views Netomat as a means for spawning an infinite number of new browser interfaces, rather than as a browser itself. It was written up in Wired some time ago, and there are some good screenshots here and here. The program itself can be downloaded for free here (Windows or Mac).
