Lumeta Corporation, a Lucent spin-off that develops network management tools, is running a long-term Internet mapping project to collect and graph routing data on the web. The project consists of frequent traceroute-style path probes, one to every registered Internet entity. From this, trees are built showing the paths to most of the networks on the Internet. This effort stands out particularly for its scale and use of color. Here is the project's gallery of cloud-like web visualizations.
