World Building 101
posted by Editor on Friday October 12, @03:15PM
Virtual Worlds WorldMaker writes "Slashdot already scooped it, but it bears repeating here as well, Pandromeda, a new start-up, has released their first (wow-eee) software product, MojoWorld. MojoWorld uses a fractal algorithm set to produce a beautifully rendered World. (Which can have multiple moons and rings, even!) The "mad scientist" behind the program (referred to in the pages as "Doc Mojo") has spent time doing Computer Games, Hollywood Special Effects, and even helped design Bryce 4.0. Pandromeda seems remarkably similar to the British Planetside (if he/they had an actual budget, of course), and his/their TerraGen. MojoWorld provides a free viewer, but their Generator program is nearly USD $250." Check out the screenshots. Also, here is a good introduction to the basic concept of modeling nature with fractals.
