The Scrapbook Of Bad Designs provides a huge collection of examples of things that are hard to use because they do not follow human factors principles. The focus is on basic, day-to-day things, including things that don't work the way you expect, different things that are too similar, things that are hard to see, things that don't work well together, things that get in your way etc., etc. There are also separate sections on controls, displays, and labels. Check out the table of contents. My favorite is the ambiguous mop sink.

Reading that site reminded me of a problem with _this_ site. I thought the screenshot icons next to some articles were supposed to be screenshots of the program the article talked about!

...Has got to be the Timex T600B Clock/Radio/CD Player/Nature Sound Generator, which I received as a holiday gift from a former employer a few years ago. The customer reviews are a good indication... hard to set the time, hard to set the alarm times, easy to accidentally shut the alarm off instead of hitting the snooze, etc. But hey, it was free. :) This is my home page.
