Welcome to Nooface

All Topics The purpose of this site is to support the exchange of ideas about next-generation user interfaces, focusing on approaches that go beyond the WIMP (Windows, Icons, Menus, Pointing Device) method on which most current user interfaces are based. The goal is to promote out-of-the-box thinking on how user interfaces might evolve to accommodate new classes of users and devices outside of the traditional PC domain. I guess the audience of a site like this is interested in more traditional user interfaces as well, and also in related fields like general ergonomics, applied psychology, etc. We should collect a number of Slashbox candidates from those fields, and turn them into actual Slashboxes. This will help to make the site attractive.

My first proposal is Nielsen's bi-weekly Alertbox column.

I think this could use different colours. I know it's more dramatic with a black background, but it's a wretched strain on the eyes, especially when you're trying to read someone's fairly complex and involved essay. I love the idea, and hopefully I'll find my way back with reasonable frequency. You certainly have a knack for picking interesting stories. D

This seems like an interesting site. It's definitely going into my bookmarks list.

Personally I think the colors used are rather fresh and nice. The green link colors rule. You are right however in that the white on black can be a strain for the eyes.. Something with less contrast could be nice, perhaps white on dark gray, or light gray on black.
